About the Show:
Meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down-and-out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out-of-this-world origins and intent towards global domination!
A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.
One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows, Little Shop of Horrors, is a charmingly tongue-in-cheek, comedic musical that has delighted audiences worldwide.
Available Roles (The Lake Worth Playhouse encourages people of all races, abilities, and genders to audition for the roles they most identify with.):
Seymour Krelborn: A shy, awkward florist’s clerk. Great comedic timing and strong tenor vocals.
Audrey: Kind and sweet, but stuck in an abusive relationship—strong mix/belt.
Mr. Mushnik: Seymour’s grumpy boss.
Orin Scrivello/ Ensemble: The sadistic dentist. Must play multiple roles with strong character voices.
The Urchins (Ronnette, Crystal, and Chiffon): A street-smart Greek chorus; strong harmony singers of color with major presence and style.
The Plant (Audrey II): Powerful voice (rock/gospel). A voice-only role, but high energy and charisma are key.
Puppeteer (Audrey II): We are seeking a physically capable and creative performer to operate the Audrey II puppets throughout the production—no vocal performance required (Audrey II’s voice is performed separately). Strong physical stamina and coordination, as well as experience with puppetry, movement, or dance, are a plus (August 9th only).
Online submissions are on a case-by-case basis.
