Outreach

In addition to the mission of the Lake Worth Playhouse, outreach programs are intended to serve as a catalyst for social change, using theatre to build bridges across cultural divides within the community. Outreach programming provides performing arts education to local schools and organization, access for underserved audiences of all ages to see mainstage performances and awareness of the diverse needs within our community. These opportunities are made possible through generous contributions from patrons, state and community grants and community partnerships.

To learn more about these efforts and how you may get involved, please see below.

Curtains Up has provided performing arts education through introductory workshops to underserved youth populations in our immediate community for over three years. Participating youth learn acting, dancing, and improvisational skills; gain performance experience; and most importantly, build a sense of accomplishment and community with the added bonus of fun. Workshops culminate in a performance on our mainstage for friends, family, and community members.

Outreach Audiences – Annually, over a thousand youth and adults visit the Lake Worth Playhouse as complimentary guests to our mainstage performances. The Lake Worth Playhouse believes that every member of our community should have access to live theatre and our community involvement is as much as going out into our community as it is inviting our community inside our doors. To be eligible as an outreach audience, groups must be represented by a non-profit service organization or community group. Contact Shoshana Davidowitz, for more information about becoming an outreach audience.

Outreach Awareness – We have all heard the statement, “Art imitates life.” As such, the Playhouse is committed to connecting themes from our mainstage shows with our community’s needs to showcase local organizations that are making a difference.
